Janene Roberts founded Popcorn Press & Media, Inc. in 1999. She began work in advertising with an internship at a San Diego public relations firm while still attending San Diego State University, where she was working on a B.A. in Journalism with an emphasis in Advertising. After graduation, she was employed by an up-and-coming ad agency, assisting the president with media planning and buying duties. Realizing her natural abilities in that area, she left her employee media buying role at Phillips-Ramsey. At that time the company was owned by McCann-Erickson and was the largest advertising agency in San Diego. (Currently it’s called Meads Durket, Inc). In 1999 Janene wrote Wine Tasting in San Diego & Beyond, a guidebook to Southern California and Baja wineries. Once the book was published, she started Popcorn Press & Media, Inc. with a focus on media planning and buying and book publishing. In Janene’s free time, she is hard at work on a novel and teaches a writing class through the Poway Unified School District.
